Water Pump for my 3R

Hi all, I'm looking for the part number for a replacement water pump on my 3R. I have this "Part no QCP3409 Made by Quinton Hazel" from a previous post http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... but as rsnoble states in the same thread, I need the backing part.

I believe QCP3409 has a small pulley and it appears Noble had this amended by bolting on a bigger pulley and this is what I'm after.

Any help would be great

pulley size is the same !!! not sure about backing part though .

Help, when my water pump gets hot, the pump (plastic blades) spins on the pulley axle and I end up overheating due to the poor performance of the water pump.

Here is a pic of my pump and a Ford Pump (XS2E-8501-EA):



As you can see, the 3 bolts match where it mounts to the engine but the Ford pump has a much larger chamber where the water is pumped. The Ford pump can only be bought as a whole unit.

Here you can see my pump has a larger aperture than the Ford. The different chamber sizes and apertures suggests my pump is desisgned to use more pressure to force the water round.

I also have a Quinton Hazel (Part no QCP3409):




This is my original pump:



As you can see the QH pump has a chamfered blade system and therefor does not fit my original pump housing.

I'm told there are differing variations of water pumps used based off what the car builders had at the time.

Does anyone know where I can get my version of the pump from?

Hi Lee , very odd just had another look at mine and it's the same as the QH part but the outlet is the same size as the ford unit !!!

Sorry mate can't help much ........ Don't you think the new ford unit will work ok ?? After all mine has the same size outlet ..... Would The bigger volume of the new unit make that much of a difference ??

Mechanic says it might not be good enough to pump the water to the front radiator due to the design difference. But if push comes to shove and I'm left with no other option, I'll buy it and have it fitted...

I think that all the US cars that I've seen use the Ford pump.

i bought a pump from the st200 owners club site as i was quite suprised to find the 3litre pump on the st was braking vanes after 60k miles.cannot remember the name of the company but they do the vanes in metal and use a deeper vane for more flow

Just an update:

As said above the Hazel Quentin pump & the £200 standard Ford pump didn't fit my Noble so they got sent back.

Ordered the Ford pump the ST200 forum uses but that didn't fit either so that went back too.

My faulty pump was handed to a guy who has a burnt out Noble near Birmingham (apparently from a wiring fault) who has confirmed he has the same pump fitted on that 3R so will hopefully have that one fitted to my 3R soon.

If I manage to glean any further detail I'll update this thread and Noble Parts for future reference for anyone who might be as stuck as me.
