Just had a knock from a mate asking me to come outside and look whats happened. All the snow has fallen from the roof tops of the block onto some cars. Both these cars have dented roofs and smash screens. Further along a Chrysler 300 has a caved in roof. There was one untouched car and we were trying to find the owner but a load of snow just pummeled it and dented its roof.

I'm lucky our 3 cars are on the other side under cover

What an pisser. Insurance companies will claim AOG. So it will be loss of NCB.

That makes for an interesting insurance claim! I guess each owner has to claim off their own insurance unless they can prove negligence from the building owner(s).

The corsa guys insurance has already said they will pay.

The Chrysler deserved it as he is a shop owner and shouldn't be parking in our carpark been trying for years to get him to stop. he leaves it there when the shop is shut as its a wedding car.

Fully comp insurance should be fine about it as it's just accidental damage, although it will affect the NCB if it's not protected.

Shows how heavy snow is though!

Snow's got around a 5:1 to 15:1 ratio to water.

1 litre of water (0.1m^3) = 1kg, so if you think it was something that was say 10cm high it would only need to be around a 30cm by 30cm sized block to be the same as dropping a 1kg weight on the car.

If you think that it was probably the width of the car, you'd easily be dropping 10-20kg on the car, which from a few floors up is going to make a big mess!
