Does anyone know this 400

Hi there,

I have been looking for a 3r for a while now and am wondering whether to get a 400 instead as i will be modding it and maybe with the 400 i wont need to.
This car is not far from me and the colour seems to be growing on me although did not want a red one but then my 10 year old scoob that i have had from new is mica red and that looks great and gets alot of positive coments.What is the general thinking on red?

Another thing,are the 400's built better as i will be keeping it for a long time and doing all the work on it myself,it will only come out on nice days and do less than 1k a year.

Are any Nobles well built . Colour is a personal preference (wait until you see Jenx's ).

From the description it about as standard as they come from the factory (I don't think they sold one without aircon) and one of the newest models that you could find.

They are clearly a better starting point for upgrades if you are looking for power/track etc - what kind of modding are you looking at - performance or neons .

It has reasonable mileage (others will no doubt come along and say its high) but no point having a car and not driving it. There are some usual weak areas that are well documented on this forum and can be expensive so worth researching these and seeing if any have been addressed. Alternatively wait for a better model to come along - a choice of one is not really a choice although it may be absolutely mint.

You would be paying for the trade deal although the warranties are usually worthless - it has been there a while so maybe offer them £30k cash (or even lower) and see if there is a deal to be done.

I was talking to someone in the trade today who said the only M400 (he)knows is available os one that's done at least 25/30 track days. I'm not suggesting it's that particular one,or that is a no-no because of it(although it wouldn't be for me) but it might be worth doing some homework as that car has been available for a while now.

Lol eh i might drive a scoob but when i bought that there was a 6 month waiting list and no chavs in them,it would be power and reliability and i just like taking things apart,a bit like what Tuxman is up to.

if you can get a good one with a exhaust, intercooler mods it would be worth paying a little extra. They aren't cheap mods but make such a difference.

That's what I did ....but without paying the little extra (but we were in the middle of a recession).

Also consider fuel pump modification and suspension top mounts replacement (known to crack). Floors are also quite leaky so I would have paid extra for one that had recently had the floor removed and resealed. Manifolds cracks on a regular basis.

You could probably tell within a 2 minute conversation whether any owner actually knew about their car and the issues/solutions/upgrades etc.

Personally track use would not bother me - that's what the M400 was built for and generally anyone that tracks their car would also look after it (subject to not crashing ) and maintain the bits that are needed (oil/turbos/manifolds/brakes/suspension etc). Now compare that to someone who uses their car all year round on the roads (lots of rain/salt/potholes/chips/lots of short trips etc). Both clearly depend upon the owner/condition and let's face it how can you really tell whether a car has been tracked/driven hard or not. At least if someone says it has been tracked they are being honest.

Or even worse, hardly ever using the car. Engines and mechanical bits just hate not being used.
