New wheel time perhaps...

Guys, my wheels are in a hell of a state now. The usual story, lacquer gone, and now serious oxidation on multiple points around the inner rim.

I'm considering getting them restored and re-diamond cut etc... probably loosing the nuts as usual. They are quite severely oxidized, but probably would come up close to new. However, with the recent news of problems with the 3R wheel strength i did consider the purchase of a new set. I dont really like the look of the comps and so was considering these:

Bondy, you're right they are pretty American. I'm after the ones with black spokes, silver lip I think. I think it adds to the aggression on a black car. Not 100% sure yet though.

I think it`s OK buying from the US until you have a problem - and don`t forget to add the import duty to the wheel prices and shipping costs. If you`ve not checked out Image wheels have a look on http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/index.html as they have similar styles with either cast or billet centres. Have a look on my profile to see one of their styles on my car.

CCW has the offsets for Noble, and the rears are a perfect match for the OEM wheel (but 4-5 kg lighter ). For the fronts, they supply a 10mm spacer that's needed to clear the caliper, but that works fine, and as a plus it increases the front track.
Note these are very high quality, true 3-piece modular wheels.

Hey Bob, thanks for the very helpful info, there's a lot to choose from there!
I wonder if they have straight on images to test with photoshop? Most of these seem more expensive but I'm waiting to here what the shipping and import will be on the USA wheels.

So you make guitars now eh? Cool I'm on tour right now, actually posting this via iPhone from the dressing room. I'm actually a bass player but am a keen guitarist too. Slowly building the collection, nice PRS is currently the prize guitar. What are you making. =)

Dan, I would strongly suggest you hunt out a set of Dymag Carbon wheels. A few of the guys have them on their cars (RobP is one) and they look awesome!! Plus, they weigh less than a small hamster, so reduce the unsprung weight a lot and make the drive better.


I think they look awesome. Not cheap but you'll get back 90% of what you paid when you sell the car on with its refurbed OEM wheels. You'll struggle to sell a set like you're thinking of IMO!

Oh, and these are the guys to take your OEM wheels to. They have some nifty black chrome finishes to offer and are very good VFM.

I think they look great but the lip seems to be a lot shallower than even the standard wheels. Is that something you can choose as a variable? I'm pretty keen to get some deep ones.

As Gregoire says, the carbon/mag rims look like the dogs danglies and weigh about as much.




Unfortunately like many a small company reliant upon bank credit I believe Dymag have gone under, so sourcing maybe an issue. I doubt that you'd get anyone who has them to part with them. Back to Image, me thinks...

I`ve been developing some rather `different` guitars which hopefully will be in production later this year. They are made from two plastic composite shells that house a laser cut adjustable steel spine that provides the strength and allows adjustment in a similar (but different) manner to a truss rod. The guitars have been relatively easy to develop compared to the production tooling.... However they have really surprised people by how they play and sound (including a reviewer from `Guitarist` magazine).
The first guitar only has a single pickup but `push/pull` pots give three pickup coil combinations. It might look a bit unusual but wait untill you see what will follow it if this first one sells....
I`ve attached a couple of photos of one of the prototypes - the production version will be similar but with a few updates.
