Well after getting the engine in last week i have been burning the midnight oil to get it all done ....and well to be honest its been a bit of a battle bangheadbanghead todays plan was to fit front turbo then spin it up to get some oil pressure before finishing the fuel system next week and start up ..........................................did not go to plan as i seem to have no oil pressure !!!! don,t know why but i,m bloody knackered and have to admit i need a few days off the project as i feel pretty low !! frownfrownfrown

Hi Simon

Sorry I emailed you earlier for an update and to pick your brain read

However if it helps you have inspired my to get my hands dirty and try and improve a number of areas myself. I also almost bought an Ultima (ask Kyle!) having seen what you had done.

I am sure the oil pressure is something obvious which will come to you when you get the chance to have some time off the project and get your thoughts clear.

Good luck and all the best - I am sure we are all eager to see what you have managed to achieve with you Noble...and it is just a matter of time until you get it back on the road smile....thumbup

Simon. Give me a call tomorrow if you like? If you're really stuck at the end of it, I'll pop over and take a look if you want? Don't worry too much, i'm sure there will be a logical answer to it.

Are you running an engine oil stat ?
If not then on my car, the cold oil pressure was halved by running a FM oil cooler and an extra 1.5 L of oil used, so maybe its just taking time to pump it all that way, also the turbo oil feeds are in the heads which are a long way from the pump so will get the oil last.
If you have access to the cooler, whip off the line from the engine and see if there is oil there ?

A couple of suggestions - I`m not too familiar with this engine but:
a) Do you have a pressure gauge or just the oil pressure warning light - are you sure that the electrical connection was made to the oil pressure switch? I`m assuming if the connections weren`t made then the open circuit would keep the warning light on even if there was pressure in the oil ways.
b) Could the oil pressure relief valve be jammed open?
Hope you find the cause and it`s a simple one.

Morning guys, great support from the forum !!!thanks Andy and Mike for the offers if i cannot get it sorted tonite might take you up on it !!! thanks very much for all the advice and offers promise to buy everyone a beer when we meet up !! i have fitted a thermostatic sandwich plate so hopefully the new front cooler is not effecting the oil system at the moment, bit concerned i could have a issue with the sandwich plate going to check that tonite also going to get a new filter and fill it with oil whip out plugs and try again ........fingers crossed !!!

Hi Bob , no gauge just a light which is connected ,don,t know about pressure relief valve .

Hope things work out, but, FWIW a thermostatic sandwich plate actually has a small bypass so that the "cold" oil flow to the cooler is not completely cut off (but the flow is drastically reduced until the oil gets some real heat in it). This is the same way the thermostat for the engine coolant works.

It may sound an odd thing to check Simon, but just chectk the fuses in the block on the top of the bulkhead, (or on the spar at the side depending on MY).
We have seen the Yellow 20 amp fuse in that 4 fuse block cause this oil light issue before?

Mike.
