today i informed my insurance company elephant that i had changed the suspension on my car. to which they turned round and declined my policy as have given me 12 days to find alternative insurance. my problem is no one will insure me at a resonable price. im running out of options. any ideas. have tried the general insurance companies but due to my age 22. and recent speeding conviction no on will insure me.
Of no use to you what so ever but we have a private partner scheme where for £750/annum we can insure any car with any value. It allows the car to be driven by anyone that I authorise including business use and there are nominal excesses. There are also no forms, no questions of prior driving experience or convictions - just basically need a licence.
I also don't need to give details of any modifications just an indication of value which is perfect for my Noble.
Given that many people have not declared modifications so technically have already invalidated their insurance together with the benefit of allowing anyone to drive fully comprehensively I really like this approach and have insured a couple of cars under this scheme.

Just thought I would hijack this thread since we are talking about insurance.
If I am going on the SPA trip with the rest of you lot do I need to upgrade my insurance?
I am with Admiral at the moment. Also it is looking like I need to increase my annual mileage I am easily going to over my estimate of 4,000 miles.
Is there a clever way of doing this? Or will I get hit hard by Admiral?
BTW my insurance is £450 with zero excess.

It depends on the insurance if you have automatic cover in EU, so you'll need to ring them and see. Regardless of cost they will also send you a EU style accident form that is self evident what you need to do with it.
The milage thing may or may not be a problem, again depending on the policy. Some allow a maximum %age increase, others you just pay the difference between that and the "unlimited" milage one.
Unless its a classic car insurance policy there is likely to be very little difference, restricting milage rarely seems to save anything significant on "normal" insurance IME.

Most companies I have come across automatically exclude track day use and specifically state Nurburgring as an exclusion. I can't remember who I used for ring cover last year but it wasn't expensive. It did have a 3000 quid excess though
You seem to be asking quite a few questions relating to your trip so my advice would be to have a read through here: http://www.nurburgring.org.uk
Will prepare you better and may settle any nerves when the barrier lifts in front of you

Lots of comments about Hagerty here :http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The conclusion was that they will no longer insurance your car if you have any mods.
I've just renewed mine with Classicline - mods no problem.

Thanks - with the Nurburgring is it classed as a track? So do I need to get special insurance for that?
SPA is definately a track ...
So I need to check they allow for track days.
