right after taking car apart again and replacing all 4 engine mounts the knocking i have is still there only really there when new load on engine or if i tap the accelerator when going along. have been told by mechanic today that he is 95% sure its the drivers side driveshaft. where can i get a new one. is it noble only part of is it just a ford part. also prices would help me. hopefully this will sort it. got car back on road for 1 week and more goes wrong just want to sort it so i can have some fun

Ford part. 30 mins to change it. Same happened to me

the CV's are £160 each from ford plus VAT (4 of them !!!)... I found you can get the outer from a specialist for £33 but when I checked mine there was absolutelly minimal play in the outer and inner had none at all. Its unikelly the shaft itself is worn IMO.

My Advice is to take wheel off and have a feel to see if there is any pay at all.

does anyone have a part number. i think i may have damaged the drive shaft when car was in pieces started the engine when drive shaft was not in proply it turned and made horrible crunch. may sound bit stupid what are the cv joints and where are they

the mechanical bit thats on each end of the drive shaft... the shaft itself is simply a bar... its the CVs that wear as they are the bits that allow the movement up and down if that makes sense?

Do a seach for 2003 ST220 drive shafts on google

The part numbers are in the build manual, l wouldn't mess around with the cv joints just replace the whole drive shaft assy.

It's always worth checking nothing has gone wrong with the parking brakes on each side. They can make some strange clicking noises if they break up.

is the 2.5 engine a mk1,2 or 3
