insurance claim

Having just reversed into the front end of a saab my rear end is in need of repair, My insurance company has told me to take it to there recommended repairer however these guys are only used to fixing run of the mill cars, am i within my right to ask for it to be repaired elsewhere ? Is there a Noble repair specialist in the south ? if so do they have to pay transport cost to get the car there ?

I've a mate who damaged his plastic car and his insurance company did the same, i.e. insisted they take it to their approved repairer. He told them that he did not want that to happen and told them where he wanted it to go, but they insisted. Anyway, the car was taken to the insurance company's repairer and they said "Ah, we can't do that, it's plastic". So, guess what happened ? It ended up being repaired by the place that he told the insurance company to use in the first place !

The trouble is, most insurance companies don't have any grasp of what's involved with plastic cars; they think "a car is a car - what's the problem ?".

So hopefully when it arrives where they say the same thing may well happen.

You have the right to get your car repaired when and where YOU want.
You will waive the right to other services that your insurance company may provide ie. courtesy car for duration of repair, warranty of workmanship, etc,
However if your body shop provides a car at no cost to you that's ok and of course they should have their own warranty conditions.

Agree, you can take your to car where you want. They will send an assessor to them once a quote is received.

You have a legal right (since the 1600s) to have it repaired where you want. If you get any grief let us know and I'll give you a few choice statements to quote at them.

Ask to speak to a manager and you should be fine.
