As this is my first Noble im not sure of characteristics, but i would not of expected a vibration or shudder through the car under braking its not severe but very noticeable but i cant feel it through the brake pedal so makes sense that its not my discs, I can feel it through the wheels and steering wheel, she has brand new boots only driven 200 miles thinking maybe could be them? im running with Michelin pilot cup sports.Or is this a characteristic of the M400?
Any ideas?
Cheers

Could be caused by a partly seized caliper or warped disk (former more likely than the latter).

Warped disc, poorly machined upright, debris between disc and flange, take your choice.

Discs were my first thought but i would feel that through the pedal, this feels like a bad road surface vibrates through the car but comes from the front. Calliper or hub seems very pos. She has only just been PDI from a very respected dealer would of thought that would be checked, thanks for help guys take her back next wk.

Save yourself a load of time, Money and heartache and get the disks skimmed on the car.

I skimmed discs off car, No joy
Bought new discs, No joy
Skimmed old hubs, No joy
Replaced Hubs with new from Noble, No joy still as bad.
All this was checked with Dti Gauges.

The bearing stub side of the Hub flange has a bad machined face which doesn't allow the bearing to sit square on the flange which causes the vibration. Noble confessed to me on the phone that there was some machining issues with the Hub flanges and sent me the new set out at cost price but they were as poor as the originals.

The most permanent but more costly fix is to replace the Hub flange with a ford unit and ford bearing which I believe the part no's to be on here somewhere.

But the easiest and cheapest is to have the discs skimmed on the car.

I did this in the end and the brakes have been superb ever since, Just make sure you get the rears done aswell as I thought all the vibration was from the front but the rears were worse.

Matty.

Sorry Matty but confused why did it only make a dif on the car? im thinking if the bearing or hub are not seated right there would be a vibe even when im not braking like if the balancing was out i would feel it in drive to, if you know what i mean when you can feel noise through the pedal and steering i can hear no drag. sticky caliper could def cause this prob maybe lack of use, Thankfully she has warranty left so i will make sure its sorted.

thanks matty will make sure they check that aswell.

Get them to check run-out on the hubs. My guess is that this is the problem. If it is, then skimming on the car is the cheapest fix.
Brake vibration is quite a common complaint on Nobles and as someone said mostly due to poor machining of hub flange.

When we used the dti gauge you could see the run-out clearly which was more than enough to notice under braking from say 70 and when pulling up at lights you could feel the grab on/off whilst stopping.

As soon as your moving without pressure on the brake you would never of known there was a problem, The run-out is enough to affect the brakes but not the feel of the car in a straight line.

My advice would be to just ask them to have the brakes skimmed on the car because if they get new hubs from Noble you could be going round in circles.

A company in Norwich done mine in about 1 1/2 hrs and the problem was sorted.

If only I had decided to do that in the first place frown By the way every time the hub comes out you need to fit a new bearing because they are a split bearing which needs to be pressed out ( I went through 8 ).

Smilling now though smile

Ball joints will make a clunking noise, not vibration and will also heat up inside edge of tyre.

It would seem alot of us suffer the same problem. I've just had the geometry set up on the car, it was out by some margin. Once I get the car back I will let you know if it has improved.

thanks for that

all booked in for fri having all 4 discs skimed on car £40 per wheel thought it was a good price without new pads. Is it best to put new pads in after, even if my old ones are good? keep my fingers crossed it helps

As a matter of interest, am I missing an easy way of finding a garage that will do this. I have found a couple of main dealers (Toyota etc.) who have the equipment but won't do the noble. Would really like a decent independant where I can talk to them about it and watch them onto the ramps etc.
Cheers,
Rob.
