Lower ball joint in the rear? Hmmmm...there's an upper one - all you have to do is remove the mounting block from the aluminum upright. The bottom of the upright is attached with one bolt to the lower A-arm and with another bolt to the shock/toe link - no ball joints there...
There is a lower ball joint in the front - I usually just put a nut onto the top of the stud (to protect the threads and to keep everything from flying around when it all comes apart), put some tension between the upright and the lower control arm with a big prybar , then use an air hammer on the top of the stud. Pops it right apart, with no damage to the dust boots or ball joint. You might be able to do the same thing if you have a buddy use the prybar while you whack the stud with a hammer and punch. Just be careful not to bugger up the threads on the ball joint stud.
A normal hydraulic press works fine for changing the wheel bearing - just press out the hub, remove the snap ring that keeps the bearing in place, then press out the bearing. Only tricky bits are the normal things you run into changing wheel bearings - the inner race may be stuck on the hub, and you need to be careful supporting the races when you press the hub back in place so you don't rip apart the bearing.

The rear uprights are different on 3R's and M400's in the uk Jim, or at least the lower arm mounting points are.
