Sump

Guys, I need a gasket for my sump. The one in the pic is the only one the my garage can get and Fordparts.co.uk belive that there is only one. It is not the same as the one removed.

Do you guys know if this does the job, the bead on the gasket doesn't fill the slot by much at all?

There are two types of sump, yours doesn't need the gasket as it has a groove for a liquid gasket. That's the same as the one i fitted to my car. The other type of sump has no groove in it so that's when you need the gasket. I got a tube of it from halfords and it's very good, i'll see if i can find the name of it.

Thanks to dave I found the correct gasket. when noble did my TDS 4yrs ago they put a newer sump on as mine was from a ford maveric 3.0ltr.

Well she is back together and running (still needs to go back for a finish off).

No! The groove is for an "O" ring gasket.

Plain surfaces should have "paper" or liquid gasket (or both).

That's what I was told by Ford and also a trusted noble specialist, done it to mine and have had no problems. I think it even says it in the Haynes manual if I remember correctly?

my sump didnt have a groove but was fitted with the O ring gasket from the factory... I replaced it with the same and have had no issues at all.
