i have a nole and get regular access to an atom 300.
the noble is a crazy out there mental car however it does have that basic of comforts a roof a radio and air con.. so you can take it to the ,leave it most places, go abroad , even transport alot of stuff. iv had golf clubs ski's or 15 odd bags of shopping in it.
the atom your really have to treat as a motorbike. where ever you are going you have to know its going to be safe. rain isnt a huge issue as the seats wipe clean. friend and i went camping in his we had 2 sleeping bags a tent a bbq (disposable) and 2 bags of cloths as well as some other eqiptment stored onto or tied to the car.
driving wise they are chalk and cheese.
the atom will go as soon as you plant the throttle to the point you dont bother indicating to overtake as you dont have enough time to change gears etc. (im not kidding)
the atom is tyring to drive you will find yourself tenseing as you drive it straining against the acceleration and braking you do, you never really relax.
the noble on the other hand isnt quite as quick up to 120 ish and can be challenged by wel tuned scoobs and evo's the atom is no contest.
however the noble can be relaxing when you want you cruise at 100 on country roads it just swallows up the corners and motorways etc are relaxing enough. the atom is a NIGHTMARE on long distances that are boring or nessesary drives. its noisy bumpy and not enjoyable. not to mention pretty boring.

You really cannot use an atom as an everyday car. Personally, I can't drive mine above 40 ish without my eyes streaming, so big shades required, and above 60 ish, I can't breathe! A helmet is therefore a must, so it's not an everyday proposition. It is however, an absolute hoot to drive. The Noble is much more of an everyday proposition. Really depends on what you want to use the car for and how often.
I've been thinking along the same lines, of swapping the M400 after 3 years for an Atom, Caterham R400 or the like. As has been said above, I seriously wonder exactly how often I'd get to drive those on my list though. The Noble I can( and have for 2 1/2 of the last 3 years) driven everyday, and that's a big bonus. If I sell I know I'd regret it,( sold a 3R and beat myself up about it!)but if I don't I'll always wonder if I should have got something really really stupid before Arthritus cripples me!On balance the Nob probably gives 90% of the thrills 100% of the time???

No not really, it's fully adjustable to suit anyway, but the damping is not as good as the Noble. If it's going to be an occasional blast of a car, I would thoroughly recommend an Atom, it's the most fun car I have ever owned/driven, but only in short bursts. If money werent a issue Id just buy both..
I have not driven a supercharged atom or an M400 so can't comment on their relative performance.
I had an S2 Elise with a supercharged 300bhp Honda Type R engine and gearbox. It was very fast and usable. The only thing I didn't like was there was a lot of vibration from the engine. The keys would gingle at traffic lights.
I sold it and bought a M400 - faster and more refined I think. Much prefer it although I miss the roof coming off.
I've just built a Caterham Duratec R400 to add to the stable for some wind in the hair motoring. I'm hoping between the M400 and R400 I've got it all covered.
I would have built an Atom 300 if they had been available as a kit. Last summer Atoms were very few and far between, and very expensive - sods law there are loads of them available now and not any more than my R400 has cost.
Whats the difference between an Atom 2 and 3?

I guess there is something I havent considered. I got out of superbiking to extend my lifespan. It was only a matter of time before I had a big get-off. Lost too many mates over the years.
I do have a concern about the safety aspect of the Atom on public roads. The noble has a complete cage, as well as more car around you. What you all think ??

I was looking for a performance car last year, and after looking at TVR's & Porsche's, i went to see a few Nobles, and the rest is history.
Compared to an Atom it may not be as quick, but who wants to get to 60 in under 3.5 seconds on a public road (unless you do track days)?
In my opinion, the Noble is unique in the fact that you get maximum fun and involvement, without having to spend huge sums of money.
I for one will never be selling her; im sure if you take the plunge, you will not regret it.

bet you 90% of the time i can get the noble off the line in 4 seconds flat. however i bet you a supercharged atom would struggle to get its 2.9 or thereabouts down. its a challenge iv witnessed fluffed up many a time! lolME
