strong vibration when going over bumps at speed
Discussion
guys as title says. recently replace drive shaft engine mounts and serviced car. floor was off also. since getting back on road when going at speed if i go over a bump i get a very strong wibration type sound coming from rear of car. any ideas. its a bassy sound. some has said to me could be floor resonating but i think its somthing else. please help needed its driving me insane
its a deep sounded vibration cant really here it just feel it under the seat. the suspension is brand new. you get in when going over bumps in the road at speeds over 80. (i mean 70 no faster lol) im wondering weather its somthing like a ball joint however replaced these over the winter.

If you feel it under the seat maybe gearbox mount do you have any movemont in gear stick ie does it move up and down when you are on off the gas peddle? sounds strange check there aint a tool bag under your seat or a large spanner
the gear knob moves up n down a bit but always has only done this since i changed the drive shaft a few weeks back. i did have the floor off and was wondering if its resonating as it does if you hit it. its doing my head in. i dont mind problems as long as i no what they are. i replaced all engine mounts few weeks back also. the bottom engine mounts are attached to the gear box.
the spring is fine i put the engine mounts in the exact same way they came out. this is really starting to annoy me. tried racing a porsche today and i backed off as it makes me feel uneasy. it doesnt seem mechanical as no real noise from it just vibration. grrrrrr. it seems to come from drivers side at rear same side i replaced the driveshaft on. if i turn the wheel the other way a bit it doesnt vibrate as much so only seems to be when a heavy load on it like when car coming back down from a bump.
Get it up on a jack and give it a feel. If you get hold of the tyre side to side and top to bottom and pull and push the see if there's any movement.
The support bearing is going to be a bit harder to check because it's supported both ends but you could try and if not loosen off the bits wheel end to check it out.
It's well worth just checking that the hub nut in the middle of the wheel is tight first though as this is prone to coming loose if they haven't been changed for the boxter ones.
