lower rear ball joint ??

Looks like my clonk on the rear could be the wheel bearing so while i'm changing that i'm going to replace the lower rear ball joint (see photo) cannot seem to find any info as to what its off does anyone know ?? ,also looks like it screws into the wishbone has anyone changed one of these ?? thanks Simon

i changed the front lower one and this was pressed in. not too sure about the rear one. from what i could see the other week when doing the drive shaft i thought it looked pressed also but could be wrong

Yep difficult to tell but it looks threaded on the inside and there is a hex on the ball joint ,
Guess only way is to gave a go .

Thats deffo not pressed in looking at that,

But thats going to be a bugger to undo looking at the state of it.
I dont think your going to be able to quite get a socket on it unless you grind the end of the socket down so its a flatter surface but still theres not much of a hex to get on because it doesnt look like the socket will go over the round bit what the ball joints fitted into.

Big bar on a pair of stilsons and a bit of heat I'd say so good luck Simon and keep us informed.

How did you get on - I've just bought a 2002 M12 and have a similar problem (Rear, lower front joint). Where did you get your replacement from and what's it off. I've read somewhere that you can get replacements from Noble for £11 each. Cheers.

Hi craig , the rear ball joint is off a metro but I'm not sure about the front , all I do know is changing the lower front is a major pain in the arse !!!

the tops on the 2.5 are all the same from a metro pick them up on ebay for 5 quid each. tops are easy. and when the bottoms need doing again i will just pay some one.

Tuxman/JDearden - Thanks for the help guy's, but just to clarify, I have play in the left rear suspension arm, lower front joint and it's off a 2002 metro? Unbelievable, a metro......I'm never going to live it down!!

Hi Craig , the bottom ball joint is the same as the top one that goes in the alloy block , 32mm in dia ,details are ,

Ball joint rover/metro;100;mgf part no TC301 ,Bought the from Andrew Page LTD 01733340177 ask to speak to Paul Kendle £6.23 each . Simon

Simon - Thanks. I've just spent the last 2 hours looking for this info on Nobleparts but couldn't find it. What I did find was loads of other great stuff that has now resulted in a to-do list as long as my arm!!
