MOT - FAIL

Oh yeah .. that topic again.

Failed on emissions. My Lamda reading is down at 0.902.

Going to take it down to the garage and see what they can do.

Luckily my local MOT centre loved my car so much they are giving me a free re-test.

AWESOME - well it is a bright lining to a dark cloud.

May just be a lamba sensor that was not plugged back in.

Went over the car today and plugged it back it.

I'll give the car a good run out over the weekend to clear the cat then take it back for a re-test.

Hopefully will all be fine again.

i got through emissions buy running tank low on fuel and doing a mix of 5 litres of fuel to half a litre of fuel injection cleaner then straight after test topped fuel tank up to 3quaters full to dilute fluid straight away you could breath the smoke it ran that clean

It's hardly extreme, infact common practice a lot of the time.

Sorry I never knew that. I've never had to do this before, so my experience is quite limited.

I'll try what was suggested.

First I'll need to run my car low on fuel!

Having a look at Halfrauds.

They have quite a few injector cleaning additives.

Can someone recommend one? Or are they all the same?

My GTO 3 goes in for it's 5th MOT on Friday having sailed through the previous four.

Sometimes use them in diesels that are old and not used much, you shouldn't need it in a petrol engine especially if you use it regularly.

forgot to add on my post that my car has no cats and co was2.4 on tick over as car was originally mapped for the track so emissions was not a issue as worty rightly said depends where you go for test

Passed!!!

Didn't have to add anything into the petrol.

The lamda sensor was unplugged. Plugged it back in and all is fine!
