oil cooling mod

got a oil cooler for my 2.5 m12 through noble, has anyone got any picks of the side mounted cooler as there is no intrustions with the kit many thanks steve

I would doubt there is an easy way to mount an air-to-oil cooler in the side pod of an M12.
Best to put it in front (ahead of the radiator) IMO, and run AN-10 lines through the tunnel to the engine.

i,ve put ,mine in the side pod and fitted a set of scoops , bit of a pain but not too much of a issue






alloy brackets have been remade in steel so they are stronger .

Joel - fine for California, but too cold in the UK for all but out and out race-cars. Most practical solution for road going cars is in the side-pod where it is fitted as standard for 3Rs and M400s. Because air-flow into the side pod is almost non-existent above 70mph (for both 3R and M400) I have slatted vanes in the wheel arch liner which helps suck the air through the cooler and out into the wheel arch.

I'd suggest putting the cooler in front for two reasons. First, it's the easiest place to mount it. Second, not much air comes through the side vents on an M12, and the engine can use as much of the air that comes through as possible. To avoid the overcooling problem that was mentioned, I'd suggest using a thermostaticly controlled sandwich plate for the oil takeoff rather than the standard one.

+1 -- Any oil cooler install should include a sandwich plate with a thermostatic bypass, IMO.

Just to add my cooler is for the gearbox !! sorry have fitted a engine one up front with a thermo sandwich plate as suggested !!
