Well just got back from Silverstone and I'm stunned by just how good the Noble was after a pretty long winter and a shed load of time and money I was not sure what to expect !!! But I'm pleased to say all the effort was well worth it .
Most impressive to me was the front end , no understeer at all not matter how hard I turned in it just stuck , a massive difference to my old Ultima .
Brakes were very good and straight line speed was very good 140 down the hanger straight was no real issue .
There was 3 other Nobles there and it was good to have a chat :-)

Next mods will have to be airflow through the engine bay and aero mods but to be honest the car was very very good :-)

...my mate was there in a silver boxster.

He sent me a text while there to say that he was getting his arse whipped by 4 Nobles, so I guess it was you guys. He is a track day enthusiast, and seemed very impressed by waht he saw of the handling. Also commented on how well he thought the new lay out was (very fast)

I'd advise not, as it can cause oil starvation and costly damage in a very short time.

If you have a fix, why don't you share it on here?

In Fact, it would be best to add it to noble parts under fixes and info. would be very helpful.

Fix is nothing special guys i have a guy who can modify the std sump but he does it in his spare time and does not want his details splashing all over the web ,he also only wants to deal with me as he does not want lots of people calling him . again anyone interested can e-mail me for details but to be honest i've copped a load of flack at times on this forum from people who feel i should not be modifying partsand doing stuff myself ect so i tend now to keep my mouth shut !!!

No worries, does it involve cutting the chassis like the Factory fit was?

Err. No. I had a £7000 bill that proves a track day sump is required.

Hmmm, interesting. Does this mean that once the chassis is cut and sump done the part of the chassis is not put back. I only ask as my sump has been off in the las few weeeks without the engine coming out?

Maybe they made it removable, like this:

This was stock on the later US M12s and M400s - is it the same in the UK cars?

No the chasis section is bolted/welded back in place , are you saying Bondy that you managed to get the sump off/on with the engine still in place without cutting chassis ?? if so good news all the info on the web says the chassis has to be cut .

Where a TDS is concerned, totally correct. I've just changed the sump gasket since some dipstick sold me the wrong gasket smash

TDS will drop 1cm and no more without cutting the chassis. So i cut it out, fixed sump leak, and welded it back in.

Hi Simon

Yes - good to meet and chat on Tuesday

Impressed with your mods - they look very neat and cost effective

Could I ask you a few things about your Intercooler please, as I'm fed up with the power loss I get as the car gets hot on track - I assume the Intercooler is probably the issue as oil and water temps are normal (also oil cooler fitted):

I think you said you have the Pro Alloy intercooler fitted?
Does any of the pipework need changing when fitting it or does it fit to the standard air pipes?
Is it pretty simple to mount on the existing intercooler "mounting tray"

and finally...
If I'm happy with the current mapping on the car, which is already near the max for the standard clutch, do I have to re-map after fitting - I'm assuming not, but these things are never simple

Thanks

Andrew

What a great evening for a drive around Silverstone! Awesome, being my first track day too was something else.....

Although with the standard car it was getting seriously hot. I had braking problems after a hard session, I think the fluid needs replacing . There was a huge amount of travel on the brake pedal, and then a few lock ups, a brakes fullon or full off situation, which was interesting to say the least! Locked the inside right which nearly turned me over the kerb, the following zig zag pattern up the track as I fought to hold on must have been entertaining to watch from a distance - not good for the underwear.

Great chatting to you Noble guys, particular thanks to Simon (Tuxman) who was no end of help, top man.......I'm already starting to order mods after his inspiration, what a fine Noble he has.

New Ferodo DS2500 pads on the way from Europerformance. (Recommended by a BMW M3 racer)

I'm putting in Motul RBF 600 brake fluid..........How much will I need??? 3 Litres ish?

Any comments on braking, or the stuff I've ordered much appreciated

Hi Guys ,bloody great to meet up and have a chat !!!!

Hi Andrew , intercooler is a direct fit with a bit of cutting but you get all the bits in the kit, if you came up here we should be able to fit it in an hour , no need for a remapp but have you upgraded the fuel pump wireing loom ??

Hi Richard get in touch with Andrew about pro-alloy bits you should get some discount for 2 speak to Wayne , don,t know how much fluid but i would have thought 3 litres would be plenty .

DS 2500 is what i fitted seemed to work well .

WORD OF WARNING !!!have you both got a TRACK DAY SUMPS and HAVE YOU DONE FUEL PUMP LOOM MODS ???????

Simon, you're a legend thanks for all the advice....

Andrew : I'm going to order the new intercooler from pro-alloy, along with a new oil breather, like simon says we could order together for a group discount. I've got a trade account through my family's garage that could also help.

I have got the track day sump fitted myself but I need to get onto the list of mods I have planned after looking at Simon's beast of a car......

- Fuel pump mod
- Oil breather
- Intercooler
- Front discs, pads....new fluid
-insulation/heatshielding
- latest ECU map

That will do for the minute! As I still want to drive it in the sunshine........

I'll put new exhaust system on the wish list for now
