I was surprised to read in the owners manual for my 3R that the car takes 95 RON regular unleaded...is this what people do please, or do some run on 97+ Super??

All fine on 95, no gain for 97.However in danger of contradicting myself, I tend to put 97 in where available, in the same way I'm more likely to put in BP/Esso etc rather than Tesco.

Yes 95 is fine. However I use 97 just because of its extra cleaning ingredients.

Best follow the advice in your manual. Mine (for a 3R) clearly recommends Super (98) if available but 95 will do.

As did chappers (3R) in this thread a couple of weeks ago... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

What build number is your 3R? Did the early ones have a different map?

No. There was a printing error in the handbook. 95 is fine (unless someone mapped the car for 98 afterwards, which is a daft thing to do in my book).
