Drivers door hinge

Hi all,

Prep is nearly done and should be picking up car next week.

One issue that has arisen is that the new door hinge it needs, as the door has dropped, is on back order at noble and will be another 6 weeks so the job will not be completed by the dealer,he will forward it to me once he recieves it.

Is this a common fault? and an easy fix once I get the hinge?

Ive done a search and cant find anything on it.

hi maark
having adjusted the door on my car i am sure its from a rover 100,looks the same but i think its been modified by noble slightly
might be worth gettin one from a rover dealer as a option

I have a feeling that you may have to remove the little panel in front of the door, so don't think it is a 5 minute job as it is sealed on I think. I'd make it a condition that the dealer fits it.
Not 100% , but remember thinking I wouldn't bother when I looked at the build manual.

Not a horrible job, but a bit fiddly to get everything adjusted right. You have to remove the panel in front of the door, which is held on with three screws and urethane sealer. When you remove this panel, you have to be careful not to damage the wiring for the side marker light installed in the panel. You will also have to remove the door card from the door, along with the plastic weather barrier under the door card. Once everything is removed, the hinge is right there and easily replaced. When aligning the door, you may also need to remove the plastic side pod from in front of the rear wheel, to give you access to the nut that holds the latch striker post to the door jamb.

Are you sure the hinge is broken? Seems fairly common for the hinges to slip, throwing the door out of alignment. Unless you see that the hinge has broken, I'd try realigning the door and tightening up all the bolts that hold the door to the hinges, and the hinges to the chassis.
