When the aircon is turned on the radiator cooling fans are turned on and run continuously. Do you get the same sound when the aircon is off but the rad fans kick in? Otherwise it could be bearing starting to go in the compressor but that would be intermittent as the compressor clutch engages and dis-engages depending upon the system pressure.
Maybe it's the fan in the hvac box - does it make the noise when you turn on the fan without the air conditioning? If it's the A/C compressor, you should be able to open the rear clam and pinpoint the noise - a long screwdriver or a mechanics stethoscope should make this diagnosis easy.
Same noise from mine too.
When AC is on you can hear the compressor clutch engaging and disengaging with a loud "click", especially at low revs.
When the clutch is engaged, the compressor is noisy "like a piece of plastic in a bicycle wheel'"
I'd like to know if it's possible to change the compressor's bearings or not.

The clutch is an electromagnetic design so it does make a loud click when it engages but is much less noisy when it disengages. There are a number of places in the UK that will rebuild your compressor rather than you replacing it but obviously the car is off the road whilst this is being done. I`m not sure what the situation is in Italy.
It is not that easy to get the compressor out so it`s probably worth replacing it or having it fully rebuilt when it`s out in case there is wear apart from the bearings. If you replace it Noble charge about three times the price you can get it from a specialist.....
