Suggestions please folks...

Car seems to be misfiring intermittently. Has been happening on the last 3 or 4 drives out, probably 200+ miles in total and a couple of fuel top-ups.

For the first 20-30 minutes of driving (i.e. much further than just "warming up") it happens sporadically but quite frequently and feels quite severe, almost as if I momentarily lose several cylinders (or even all of them!) for a fraction of second. Seems to clear after 20 miles or so.

This evening I had the problem for the first 25 minutes of a long drive, after which it cleared until I was approaching home (after a few miles of gentle driving to cool down).

Occurs on a steady or trailing throttle but no problem apparent when accelerating. Idling appears to be normal and smooth at around 800rpm. No pops, bangs, smoke or anything else out of the ordinary - just a severe but fleeting loss of power that's most apparent when holding a steady speed.

Dodgy coil pack? Plugs??? I dunno... suggestions for diagnosis / elimination would be most welcome... TVMIA.
