M400 Rear Spring/Damper length

Hi
Still finding my way around the car and last night had one of the rear wheels off just for access and cleaning etc but noticed that with the suspension fully extended the spring is a bit over 5mm shorter than the damper i.e. free play. The adjustment looks right according to the manual (1" from top of thread to top of spanner nut). Is that normal?

Any advice appreciated

sounds about right, you wont know how right unless you corner weight it.
