Nor indeed does the M400 make 425bhp straight out of the box. However, 321bhp is within 10% of predicted for a standard 3 litre car, so the figure would be seen as 'acceptable' especialy given it's age.
Having said that, it is a simple enough job to increase power - all you have to do is e-mail a certain young gentleman on this forum who will wave his magic wand over it

All depends on what sort of power the std 2.5 makes in reality. If you spend a couple of thousand on a 5.0 litre TVR engine and find 300 bhp on the rollers you've got good reasons to be well chuffed even though the factory quoted 320 or 340 bhp for the standard item. Also, reliability and driveability could have been factors in the spec of the rebuild which more often than not are somewhat contradictory to finding the most power. Lastly, you can't really say in this case the owner has spent £20K on getting xx extra horsepower; for all I know a rebuild to standard spec including removal/installation/testing and set up may cost £19,995...
It also has "18inch Race (central wheel nut) alloy wheels" as opposed to standard wheels with the plastic wheel nut cover

Sorry, but if the seller really thinks they have race wheels fitted, they may just have enough knowledge to know what is inside their engine NOT!

Andy, what roating assembly are you opting for? Also what kind of boost are you looking to run once you have forged the bottom end? Chris.

I sent the engine to mountune who have supplied the pistons and rods, the big ends had scored the crank (bearings were destroyed) and oversized bearings are not available so a new crank was needed.where are you getting your pistons and rods from ?

I know the std rods are short but they are actually very nice arrow H beam items which was a bit of a surprise
