Hi,

Gutted! Just got my 3R back from garage a few days ago and today was my first chance to get out properly - spent a few hours driving pretty hard, then driving at, er, 70 mph the turbo just seemed to halt, it just didnt want to play, i immediatly decelerated, checked noises, couldnt here anything, accelerated again to double check and the only way i can describe it is when you hit turbo revs it felt like it wanted to slow down rather than speed up.

Had a look, im no mechanic, but i cant see anything untoward...

Idle is now up to just below 2 however, whereas before it hovered around one

Anyone have any idea before i limp all the way back down to Leicester? (from Manchester)

I suspect you've blown the pipe off just under the throttle body. You've now got an air leak, mixture running horribly rich on part throttle and lean under boost. Put the pipe back on before you do much running and learn some bad adaptives.

Also, if it's got an internal wastegate look at the shaft /rod going to the actuator and check it's not come off. That would leave the wastegate open so the turbo would rev up but make no power.

My waste gates were sticking. I sprayed that PTF oil on them and it did the trick. Whereabouts in Leicestershire are you? I live near Melton Mowbray.

Thamks for the advice guys,

I stood next to the car as Dave from Jetstream guided me through it - it was simply the vacuum pipe (to the map sensor next to the throttle body) that had come disconected.

Phew!
