What to get for 45k
Discussion
Hi guys, a mate wants a new weekend car as the renovation on his house has finished. He has up to 45k to spend. His options so far are:
997 C4s or C2s
Audi RS4 cab
Aston vantage
What's the reliability like on the Aston?
He doesn't need a car in the week so this is for weekends. Oh yeah, golf clubs must fit :-)
What do you lot think. I think the Audi.

Tell him to save some money and get a noble. I can fit my fishing gear in mine so clubs should not be a problem.
He wants something a bit more refined and I already have the Noble. Yes I can get two sets of clubs on the rear shelf and two folding pencil bags behind the seats :-)If it's purely a weekend toy, and doesn't have to be practical, then how about the ultima, you could probably fit golf clubs in the front, there is quite a bit of room.
I just think the other choices are a bit of a common site on our roads, but it depends if he likes being different.
It's a nice dilema to be in though.

I was sitting bored so here's a not exhaustive list of cars under 45k
Low mileage example, a lot of car for your money!

Not a fan of the 360 personally but..........

A realistic alternative to an Ultima

Ubiquitous SL series Mercs are a real Aston alternative, better made / Engineered.

I put this here as a kind of sorbet to cleanse the Palate

So, what are peoples views on the Vantage? He is swaying that way.
See this if you want to rely on A.M. after care / service.

a little harsh I know but it could happen to anyone.
Nice to look at and hear going by.
Frustratingly slow pick-up, tacky interior (loads of cheap plastic),
Reasonable ride comfort.
In a nutshell:
Good for posing.
Bad for traffic light derby.
The pleasure is for the benefit of the bystander NOT the driver!
Oh and if he gets one make sure it's a stick shift.
All IMO of course but I have driven the Vantage and DB9 quite hard.
maybe he should save for a DBS, not driven one yet but are supposed to be waaaaaay better than the rest of A.M. models.
Maybe a Vanquish mighy fit his bill they are dipping into the £45k mark now!
