Adjusting rear clam?

Can you adjust it?

On one side the neoprene rubber sits quite tightly on the external cabin wall.

When I drive around I can hear it creaking inside and it is annoying the hell out of me.

Can I adjust the rear clam to move just 2mm back?

Do you think it would help if you losen off one of the clam clips??

The pivots are adjustable, as are the 1/4 turn clam fasteners.

Anybody know where I can get a new set of fasteners, mine are looking a bit sorry for themselves :-(

I had a look at the pivots - I don't understand how they are adjustable. There does not seem to be any area for movement if I lossen them.

It is basically a bolt with an allen head which goes through the pivot, then a restraining pin in the other end?

The pin goes through the clam, and through a metal bracket attached to the chassis. The metal bracket is bolted in place - loosen the bolts, and it moves around, thus allowing you to adjust the clam.

Not sure about the US but mine is welded in place at the back unlike the front which is bolted .

I have been tempted to drill the brackets out and bolt it so I can make some minor adjustments but never got around to it.

I took another look at the cars we have in the shop - I was right, the rear clam brackets are adjustable. Look inside the rear triangles and you should see the two nuts that hold the bracket in place. Of course, maybe the UK cars are different....

Oh, well, just to show that the recent hot weather hasn't addled my brain, here are some pics. In the top pic, you can also see the little stop that helps support the clam when closed - if you adjust the pivots, you may need to adjust the stop, too.

mines bolted same as above.... however when I was getting cracking noise from the clip I adjusted the pin retainers just below the rear window upwards a bit as it was here that I was getting the slight rubbing (ie along the edge under the rear window).
