GT28 Upgrade :/

I was on the verge of ordering a pair of GT28 turbos today, but when Universal Turbos started asking me what i wanted to achieve i didnt know what to say and thought it would be best to ask advice first.
Any benefits of ordering GT28's over standard T28's, or am i just buying more than what is required. I am only trying to hit 500 real bhp not JNM bhp, are the Gt28's overkill or of benefit? I have been told they spool faster and can achieve more power.
I like the idea of them spooling faster as i dont like lag at all, i suppose it also wouldnt hurt to have a bit extra tucked away for a rainy day.
Advice required please before i purchase as i do not want to find out later it was a waste of time and i should have just stuck with standard T28's.

well Universal turbos told me, they can modify a T25 to make it into a T28 but they can not modify to make into a GT, the GT is a ball bearing turbo which spools alot faster and spins more freely, it can spool up from as little as 1000rpm and thus they can also create more air flow and provide better compression of the air, thus creating more power.
The GT28 will spool as fast as a T25 if not a little bit quicker but it appears will have too much power on tap, i am not sure what problems this may cause for the mappers or whether i would have to run low boost etc..
I want more power but not at the cost of lag, so it seems the ball bearing turbos are the way to go, it seems a GT25 will spool faster than a standard T25, so fast in fact that the car will run like a naturally aspirated and add power at the same time. Seen as though it will also provide the power i want to achieve then it seems the GT25 is the way to go although i imagine it will be running at high boost.
What boost are your GT25's running at Phil? What does the dyno chart look like and how is the power delivery?

Almost totally flat torque curve @ 430ft/lbs most of the way through the rev range. Feels more N/A than turbo. Ask N2H and sjc, they've both been in it.

You can modify the 28's to flow better, gas flowing the throats etc all helps, but consider this with the GT25's though, gas flow those and you'd be right on the money.
I ordered the GT28's today after discussions with universal turbos.
I explained i wanted extra power on tap for the future, but wanted something fast spooling with virtaully zero lag, based on this they worked out what compressor housing to use etc.. all above my head but i have been assured due to the fast spooling then there will be less noticeable lag than with the standard T25's, the Turbo's are coming with 1 bar actuators, the turbos are capable of running at 2bar+(30psi) producing a max of 360bhp each.

good choice on turbos tho, if you can afford them they are definatelly a step up... I assume you know you need to change the water plumbing?
