Lack of power..........help needed

Taken the car out for a good run today, (weather was wet) on the way back I noticed if I held the car at around 3500 to 4000rpm, then floored it, sometimes it would cut out, almost like hitting the limiter. Checked the car over, all seems ok, did notice the fuel pump a bit noisey, could it be fuel starvation???? Has had an upgraded fuel pump and wiring, any thoughts????

Was it stuttering and spluttering ? It sounds like water ingress. Have a look in the plug wells.

Pipe collapsing ahead of the fuel pump. Change all pipework from tank to pump.

..and replace with high pressure fuel hose (even if it's supposed to be on the low pressure side).

If you get clean acceleration when the car/engine bay is cold, and the symptoms you described only when the car is hot then fuel hose collapsing is the most likely cause of the cut-out. Known issue.

I modded the fuel tank to remove the 1metre of pipe prior to the filter and replace with 2inches... considering the filter is less than inch away from the tank its a joke that the outlet is the other side of the tank in the hottest place they could outlet the fuel.
The pipe I took off had a kink in it.

I feel it was on the fuel side, due to the fuel pump (which is noisey normally) making a stranger noise than normal.

I would check out what Andy and Trevor suggested, a kink in the fuel line could be very bad for the engine, Mike was telling me today to do this mod myself as Steve got bad engine damage from this exact same problem.

Yep for piece of mind I would just replace it... end of !
Oh and check the other end of the fuel line where it returns to the tank as if this is restricted it also has a bad affect on the fuel pump.

Had this symptom years ago. Main dealer huffed and puffed, even had the man from the factory to the garage. One of the older mechanics said "sure it's not a plug breaking down ?"

Paul even if it's nothing to do with the fuel system l would look at replacing the fuel pipe from the tank to the pump, it's a rubbish design & poor quality pipe. In my opinion this is far more important than upgrading pumps unless you are running big bhp, while your at it change the fuel filter
Simon (tuxman) has come up with a great solution for the tank outlet & also aids the low fuel issue so might be worth having a chat with him.
Will be at the Show on Wednesday so can explain more then if you want.

In all seriousness I would actually consider modding the tank, it will take a few hrs to remove tank completely but it will cost less than the proper quality 1m of pipe.
