Thanks if anyone can help here.
What is the exact name of the 3 litre ford engine in a noble ?
If you change the exhaust ,intercooler, fuel pump and get a remap on a 3 litre, i understand you can get to around 400 bhp. Do you have to strengthen the gear box or other engine parts with 400 bhp or will it run ok ?
Cheers
Stefano

the engine is called a duratec
the basic design of engine is used in :
Jaguar
Mazda
Ford Mondeo
Ford SUV
you can tune a 3.0 to about 400 bhp - but you need to make sure if you have the 5 speed box it is uprated and fitted with a quaife ATB

mine is stock 6 speed 3R with the lsd, what do you have to do if you want to go over 400 bhp or is it endless ?

I think I might of needed 0.5 actuators for my turbos for 400 bhp. But could be wrong
If i'm right I don't think that matters, 0.5 actuators just means they boost to 0.5 bar without any boost control. most of the big boys use 0.7 I think but again I'm not sure it matters if the ECU is doing all the control?Bondy

Hi Stefano , the std gearbox will be ok with 390/400 bhp just be a bit sympathetic with it :-)
to get higher you need to do Turbo's and valve springs but its a good step forward over std :-)
So if you want to go more than 400BHP I guess you need to strengthen the gearbox and uprate the clutch? Just interested as I'm looking at doing mine next year. to get higher you need to do Turbo's and valve springs but its a good step forward over std :-)

if you are going to uprate valve springs ect my as well put in bigger injectors do the box and clutch them aim for 500bhp !!!!
I would be aiming for 500, after seeing steves and grants cars on the rollers i've been dreaming of getting my car up to that spec, they just sounded awesome! Wouldn't mind a passenger ride at some point?

Well, if you guys are running 500bhp on standard pistons with no problems then maybe i'll leave them in, they're not the cheapest of things after all! (Although cheaper than a re-build if one does break)
There is no doubt upgrading to forged pistons is a good idea in the long run but so far the cast pistons have coped pretty well , will head into next year with cast pistons although i have forged ones in the cupboard ready for rebuild next winter , the reason i have not done the change this year is because my engine is running so well as it is with very little oil use it seems to be a bit of a shame to pull it all to bits !!! and there is always so much else to do !!!jamescmr2 said:
Most of you know what i am doing to my car (valve springs etc). i have not upgraded the injectors. what do you think the standard ones limits are?
cheers
James
depends if you can up your fuel pressure , mine topped out at 460 with 5 bar fuel pressue ,std injectors with std fuel pressue are good for 420 ish .cheers
