window drops

The off side window on my 2.5 has dropped slightly and has done it before a couple of times. Each time I've removed the door card and tightened the screw that holds it in place. However, this screw just goes through a thin piece of fibre glass which has now worn into an oval instead of a circle that the screw used to fit. Anyone had this and found a more permanent solution? I'm thinking a metal plate of some kind?

I used a repair washer to spread the load over more of the surrounding fibre glass around the oval hole. That seemed to do the trick.
