Grooved disks

Do the grooved brake disks actually perform any better under normal road conditions or are people upgradeing because of the cracking?

Hi mate , upgraded to them because the hole vented units can crack and for hard track use the grooved are supposed to be better , I would gave thought for road use the STD disc will be fine !!

Hi. Must admit I changed my drilled discs because they where starting to crack but glad I went for grooved as I think my braking has to be at least15% better. I also think they look better as well

they are supposed to prevent the pads from glazing and allow more air over the pad

however they vibrate and often squeak on light application

i have not tried them on a noble personally, but on other cars when i have used them i have not liked them

Get your old discs turned and then redrill the holes, that will make them like new again.
If you want better stopping power then your choice of pads will make the most difference.

Grooved, not that I have experience of holes or nobles, are great for stopping, but they do make a strange noise which sounds like the engine slowing down very fast but is actually the whirring of grooved discs.

Based on 5 years of an Alcon/Prodrive 330mm big block set up on an Impreza P1. Next to no fade but I reckon someone else driving my car might push harder than I do myself!!!

Had the same experience with my scooby they where an improvement over standard that why I went for them on my M12.

Ok then, so for a bit more bite then what pads to go for, I dont get any wobble but it would be nice to feel it was pulling up quicker

ferrodo ds2500 are pretty good for fast road use . Tux

For normal road use and the occasional trackday, OEM disks and DS2500's are absolutely fine. For frequent track use the grooved disks and Pagid RS29s are the way to go. On the Noble, grooved disks do not make any more noise than standard disks and if the Pagids are inserted correctly with a little copperslip you will not get any low speed squeal. They are of course a lot more expensive that the Ferodos.

Does the DS-2500 refer to the specific brake material or is that the model number for a Nob,

DS2500 refers to brake pad material; you'll need to get a set specific to Noble. Can't comment on Redstuff as have never used them.

i think the same pads and calipers are used on some of the older ASTONS and the jag xj220

Got my ferrodo stuff from questmead , but if you are interested I've got a full set that have done 4000 miles as I've upgraded to pagid rs29 !!!
