Sealey 1.5 tonne rapid lift aluminium jack from equitech solutions on eBay, they also supplied me with a sealey 1.8 tonne engine crane, good prices from them too.

I like the Clarke Racing aluminium racing jack it slips under the car easily. Machine Mart sell them, they also have another low profile jack.

I just bought one of these. I'm sure they are fine but beware if you have a rough finish to your garage floor.
Jacked the car right up to have a look at some new hose clips in the central access panel, but before I knew it, bang, the car just dropped down as the jack had gone right through the floor!!!! The problem was the jack did not creep forward underneath the load point as it was raised, instead as the jack went higher the saddle just moved back off the jacking point onto the ali floor pan. Two bent and twisted bits of floor panel and 1 cracked sill. Irony is I had to use my old jack to extricate the new one. Brilliant.

To be fair, that does sound a bit like user error than a product fault.

Be careful with those Machine Mart type jacks, they are just cheap. They literally fall to bits too. You'll end up having to tighten nuts and bolts etc everytime you use it. They are VERY low quality and loads of people sell them, all the same product but re-branded usually.

The front of the jack has a single roller (rather than a castor type wheel on each corner).
The user error was not noticing that the jack was not moving under the lifting arm.

Did have to put a bit of thread lock on the bolts but otherwise very happy for the price.

I just make do with a cheap scissor jack to give me just enough room to slide a 3 tonne Halfords Pro under wherever it needs to go.

I've had mine for 7 years with no problems at all but quality may have been driven down over the years under price pressure, they probably have multiple sources over time so quality may vary.
