Fuel pump priming.

Had a problem with car just stopping which thanks to those that assisted and suggested I look at the fuel pump. I checked this and sure enough the pump was not running, again with help from you guys I located the relays and found the fuel pump one to be energising but no pump running, I messed about with the wiring i.e. wiggled it about and hey presto it now works.
Question is, is this a common problem as I am now nervous to use the car as I did not find anything definite. Thanks again Dave.

The bank of 4 fuse holders at the rear get easily corroded and then you start to get problems.
Also the quality of the crimps into the relay bases again can be dubious with age I have found on a few cars....

Yeh Dave it's a common problem , take the relay out and clean it ,then when you push it in make sure you don't let the crimp on ends move away out of the block , also with doing the fuel pump relay mod , do a search loads of info on forum . Tux

lol, i always used to keep emergency toilet paper in the car, but i suppose your method could also work

Same problem for me last week, car cut out at 70 'ish on the motorway. Turned out the fuel pump wire to the relay and the relay was badly corroded.
