Hi,

Does anybody have the battery spec to hand , I need to replace mine as it is dead following the winter break (Trickle charger has fooked it by the looks of things)
Hopefully something from Halfords?
Cheers

The car has been on a battery conditioner (Halfords "Advanced") but on getting to the car today its dead as a dodo with the trickle charger reporting a bad battery.

Trouble is im 100 miles from home with a limited tool kit :-(
Off to halfords tomorrow to get a new battery and hopefully get the beast home.............

Any chance you could tow the car to halfords? I'd love to see them change the battery in a noble for the small fee they charge. wink

We all know what a pain in the a**e Noble batteries are to get to. Might be worth adding an extension cable to the terminals when you fit the new battery so you can connect a trickle charger easily. (just in case you didn't already know thatpaperbag)

I hear a lot of people saying what a pain it is to change the battery, but i have always found the job relatively easy, so i will share the way i change the battery and see if i am doing anything different.

1.jack up car
2.remove wheel arch splash guard to give easy access to terminals
3.unbolt terminals and remove
4.push battery up from underneath and remove support bar and battery drops down.

You just reverse the process putting the battery back in, there are no access issues or awkward parts of the process, when you put the battery back up just rest the back corner on the angle support while you put the support bar back in.

Thanks for that R0162! Hoping to change mine over this morning...

Dumb question - will disconnecting the battery trigger the alarm? Or does that only happen if the alarm is armed?

Cheers.

After you remove the positive battery cable, I'd suggest covering the positive battery post with a bit of rubber hose, tape, etc. Just to keep something (like the battery hold down strap) from accidentally shorting across the battery...I do the same thing while installing the new battery - cover the post until the battery is in place and bolted down.

Also, it's good practice to always remove the ground first and reattach it last. That way, if you accidentally touch your wrench to the chassis while undoing the positive cable, you won't short anything.

Ha ha excellent, but would you let them throw spanners round your car if they actually said yes?

That's a fair description. That how I've done mine in the past.

However, contrast and compare with most other cars:

1. Open bonnet
2. Unbolt terminals and remove battery
3. Insert new battery and attach terminals
4. Close bonnet

This is the one you want. Cheaper elsewhere or half price if you can find someone with a Halfords trade card.
