Replacement fuel pump

Can anyone help, I need a new fuel pump as the inlet pipe is broken, where is the best place to get one, is it from another car manaufacturer available off the shelf? any help much appreciated. Dave.

Hi Dave , ive got Funkys M400 pump to sell , its only done 4000 miles and would be a sensible upgrade over the std pump if you are interested or you can upgrade to a new better 044 bosche for £110 + vat . Tux

Out of interest; if you change the fuel pump do you need to get the car re-mapped?? i assume so long as it is an upgrade (i.e. for a given voltage you get at least the same flow through, for a given pressure) you wouldn't have to!

I had an exhaust and pump + wiring upgrade (without remap) over a year ago and my car hasn't blown up yet!

I don't think a remap is required. Fuel delivery into the engine is controlled by the ECU and fuel injectors. If you install a bigger pump, that just results in (in most cases) more fuel being recirculated straight back into the fuel tank by the pressure regulator.

The exception would be if your current pump can't supply enough fuel at full throttle, which would result in a lean condition unless you ECU fuel injector settings were adjusted to compensate (keep the injectors open longer). Assuming the new, more capable pump can supply the engine's full throttle needs, you will now have proper fueling if your ECU was not compensating for a weak pump, or you will have a rich condition if the ECU was compensating.

no, you shouldn't need a remap... the std fuel pressure regulator keeps the fuel at 3bar in the rail regardless of which pumps being used.... what will happen is that the regulator will send more fuel back to the tank than if a std pump was used.

The exception to this is if adjustable fuel pressure regulator has been fitted that may need adjusting to keep the same pressure.
