No, the opposite. it was only a week or so ago that some asked this question and Tony gave his input. he was so impressed, so I brought one. Just not fitted it yet :-) now have the pipes run and have all the bits. It will be going in soon.

bow I stand corrected, Last time a saw Tonyvans car was at a dyno day at CHR, I think it was still a bit experimental then.

when the car was on the rolling road, it never had the carge cooler fitted.i had experimented extensively with twin fans, the results were poor. no gains were made, and no decrease of inlet temps were recorded. the fans were the very latest spal hi volume fans.now sat in the garage gattering dust. now the charge cooler was the complete opposite.i did approach a noble tuner in the usa who dismissed that this charge cooler wouldnt work, and there would be pressure drop etc.. not true im happy to say. (no name mentioned but the clue is si fi.)this item has been on my car for nearly 2 years as some on here will know by seing all the k type thermocouples that make my engine bay look messy..lol.although i had all the data needed to know that this is one of the single most dramatic mod ive made to my car, ive left all the testing equipment on, so i can keep monotoring and seing if things change... they havnt.although my car has not been remapped. back to back test using origional setting to previous dynos, showed an increas in bhp by 18bhp and 15 ft touque.all previous dyno were within a few bhp of each other.the startling thing was the final dyno testing was on a very hot summers day, when bhp figures historically lower with the increase in heat.we actually gained horsepower and the scope to increase boost and still maintain very low intake temps is huge.the car was sat on a dyno for over an hour, not once did the inlet temp at the throttle body go over 23 degree c either sat idling or on full boost.ps this recording was replicated on the road too.infact the dyno kinda restricted the charge cooler from working to its optimum a small amount.this was tested using accurate measuring equipment, not taken from the ecu.no photos at mo as i dono how to get them on here.computer geek im afraid.

To be fair Paul, yours was completly different to what Tony has and with Tony's the IC is also still used.

I can vouch for the fact that he has had thermo couples hanging out of his car for years. lol and i've seen the temps smile

Dear Bondy,
No probs, if he can show it works I'll be humbled. I did all I could think off to make it work but failed.

tony, i for one would be very interested in seeing some pics and the data. Also did you take pressure reading pre and post intercooler and chargecooler? Thanks chris

no. i didnt take pressure reading,as throttle response hasnt changed, infact it has sharpened.(i could ask my dyno man to go through the charts and confirm this, id suspect that was already checked for. had i have detected and pressure drop in car, i would have monitored that too.i will add that the boost guage i used for the test wasnt the noble indash one, but instead a much greater accurate one,and also dyno pressure readings.
Paul unfortunately that type of charge cooler u used did not work!!! this i know as i did exactly the same. i have an intercooler that i heavely modified and transformed it into a charge cooler.(what a waste of time that was. ha ha) but you have to do these things to see if they work.i dont want to start a war of words here, but i have tried every avenuue to drop temps including using water injection. double core intercoolers which i was given acess to and DID test.the only one that works consistantly is what is fitted to my car... you may hear diff but as ive tested them i think i may have a valid point.sorry some on here.anyway, the initial aim wasnt to gain any horse power, but to drop inlet temps to allow a greater manuver to up boost and stop detonation and retard timing compensations.by lowering the inlet temp automatically sustains origional horsepower of the engine.

just to add one rolling road uses a charge cooler set up on their dyno to im assuming gain bhp??? or keep inlet temps down on dyno runs this is plumbed into a hose via a domestic tap, which is kinda ok on a dyno, but not on the road and smudges the figures somewhat.great for showing your mates the graph down the pub.. also running cooler inlet temps keeps the whole internals at a stable temp too. what we did notice, is how very stable the inlet air temp stayed. we witnesed no spikes in air temp rise, and it wasnt like something that is on off on off unlike water injection.even when power runs were bein performed boost temps never spiked at full throttle they remained below 30 degrees celcius (just like magic) :-) my work is done. thanks to all those who took the piss out of my little blue wires all over my car, they remain for now.. ps the charge cooler looks kinda cool too dont ya think?? bondy!!

Yep, it does look good.

I don't know anything about this pressure drop issue but I can't see why there would be. The carge cooler is a barrel one and its ID is the same as the pipe going to the inlet so its just like stapping ice cube bags around the inlet pipe?

Very interested to see pics of the kit and know how it's plumbed in. Tony/bondy get some pics of your nobs up!

I'm especially interested in the water plumbing. It uses a front mount radiator to shed the heat, right? Can you post a picture? What size tubes run through the tunnel? It's already crowded in there! Is there a water tank, or just the two coolers, pump, and tubing?

My garage just run new coolant pipes and also ran 19mm pipes ready for the CC. The RAD I'm using is a cossie pre turbo rad which I need to get the inlet/outlets pipes changed.

tony's Barrel is bigger than mine as his is rated fir lots of power, this meant he had to move the header tank. Mine is rated to 450bhp and should fit in with no fuss.
