brakes or lack of

Took the 400 out to open pit Snetterton yesterday. Engine and handling were great, but the breaks were only lasting 3 laps by the end of the day....and even gave out completely at 100mph - which was a little worrying at the time.

What have you guys got fitted ?

How old is your brake fluid?
May be time for a good bleeding and replacement with race-quality fluid.

sounds a bit unusual !!! what have you got fitted now and what is the condition , i ran DS2500 on the front last year with grooved disc and std pads and disc on the back with no issues , this year have upgraded to grooved disc all round with Pagid RS29 fitted so far they feel very very good and are supposed to be the Ultimate in Noble braking !!!!

same set up as me, grooved with pagid 29s, and they have stopped me. and that aint easy

Sounds like boiling fluid. Get it flushed and it'll still fade, but much less than that.

I can also recommend the grooved disks all around - DS2500 on mine and stop like a train hitting a wall.

yep pagids going in and the best fluid i can get....

must have been poor oil, or had previously boiled etc....

is there any mileage in getting more air onto calipers, or not worth the bother ?

I've put new DC2500's in and I'm going to bleed my brakes through in preparation for Donnington on Easter Monday and SPA in June.
What fluid should I use?

And, I notice each front caliper has 2 nipples. Do they have to be bled in any particular order?

I did an Open Pit session at Silverstone 3 weeks ago and found the brakes vibrating a bit under heavy braking - I suspect this means the discs need skimming. Apart from that the brakes didn't fade at all during the day.

Taking the car out yesterday for the first time since then, I nearly hit the proverbial wall you mention above, but due to the lack of brakes. Do you think they need bleeding?

The standard brakes have never provided great stopping on my car and I've been reading with interest the suggestion of grooved discs and Pagids. My biggest fear however is that on road use that they will squeak away like a trapped mouse. Is that the case?
