Well I had a nice envelope from the DVLA on Saturday which I expected to be another 60 coffers into the governments pocket and three of the finest penalty points but this is what I found.
Please take note of the red highlighted area on the second page......



Just unbelievable how they can do this.
I had to send them a fax with chassis no etc and they put a hold on the export.

Did you ask if they are going to investigate who made the application, and why.

I assume it will be a typo, but I bet they won't discuss the applicant with you.

A document from the DVLA in standard Word 2000 font ( times new roman ) and you believe it to be genuine ?

Just look how it's formatted - it's all bog standard Word 2000 layout. And words like CAR THIEVES in capitals. Plus the numbering, bullet points, use of capitals, etc etc.

I think a mate of yours is pulling your pisser !

I reckon the letter is real and it's always struck me as remarkably easy to change the name of the RK. If someone knew you were away for a few wks and had access to the keys (or could break in and get them) they could sell your car.

How did you get that image ? Did you scan the letter, convert it to text and then edit out your details ?

looks like a fake document to me... don't send any details to the address etc on it, ring DVLA direct.

The first thing I did was phone DVLA on the 0300 number and went through the umpteen menu systems to get to speak to the right department to check it was a genuine letter. It does look a bit strange on the screen but thats because I used OCR to remove my personal details.

They say they have sent a letter out to the person requesting more information etc and they are looking into it.


As many of you know and there are plenty of pictures on the Web my reg is GTO 3R so I would of thought the only typo could of been a zero instead of the O but they told me that that number doesn't exist.
I just can't believe that if I was away on holiday or the letter got lost in the post they would issue an export doc and allowed the applicant to become the new registered keep fking crazy.

P.S. I have disabled the car for the time being just in case.

the registered keeper is not the legal owner... but its a whole heap of trouble without doubt.

I actually got a letter yesterday from DVLA... apparently they have correct the cc of my car as it was wrong, maybe they are having a purge on nobles lol

Anyway, it's been confirmed that the letter is genuine. I thought the geographic phone numbers most odd - they usually list 0845 numbers.

Ah, there you are then, that's what it looks like an old Word doc, because the OCR has converted the font, put the bullet points in etc etc.
