Fuel issue???!!!
Discussion
I have been messing around trying to work out why my car is lacking performance on wide open throttle, so i looked at the plugs, the fuel and the air.
I took my fuel filter to a few mechanics and they all said the same, in that it is a full flow filter and should not be causing a restriction, it is the same they use on rally cars, Anyway when i took off the fuel filter, i emptied the fuel tank, or so i thought, after emptying about 20 litres it slowed to a trickle but the fuel was never gushing out which i found strange, so i took off the breather pipe ready for dropping the fuel tank down for inspection and fuel came gushing out again, i think the breather pipe must have been blocked.
I took a video to demonstrate, Is this normal or is this the problem?

yep Steve, it was the ARV, i disconnected the pipe from the top which allowed air flow, i reconnected and removed the pipe from the bottom and no fuel flow, after shaking it for a while i heard somethings start moving which i assume is the ball, i am leaving it off until i get a replacement.
I'm glad i decided to investigate that could have been very bad, i suggest anybody with a buzzing fuel pump investigates the same.
While i was on with finding the problem at least it prompted me to do some other jobs, air filters, this was the length of pipe required running to the side pod from under the tank.

I fitted the new air filter to the splash guard, so it is still in the wheel well and ran the pipe over the top of the fuel tank.
I have to cut a small section out of the inside lip of the clam, but supruisingly not a lot needed removing, i put the rubber back on which seals against the air ducting.

The rear air filter i put back in the IC box, this pic shows the length of pipe i needed to run it into the side pod, now it is back to original with a short piece of ducting but with a thinner and longer ait filter, this has now free'd up the side pod again for me to put my oil cooler.

Interesting. Do you think this is what causes the "angry bee" sound? I presume just taking the fuel filler cap out would do the same - I'll give it a go next time I've got the bees buzzing.I'm glad i decided to investigate that could have been very bad, i suggest anybody with a buzzing fuel pump investigates the same.

Its the ARV, the ball sometimes gets stuck, I replaced mine and its been fine ever since

That is a much more refined version, the standard on was from a Fiesta if memory serves.... the vacuum is only present when the fuel is cold, once on the move the fuel warms and partially evaporates in the tank causing positive pressure.
The Buzzing is more likely the restrictive fuel return in the tank, easily tested by pulling it off when the pump is making the noise and see if it goes quiet !

Understand. Is there a simple fix to the fuel return, or is it a replacement of that whole return? The Buzzing is more likely the restrictive fuel return in the tank, easily tested by pulling it off when the pump is making the noise and see if it goes quiet !
Thanks.

lol, i quite like them also, my friend following keeps reporting the size of flames to me when we stop.
I did not manage to get the car on the dyno today, they had trouble with a twin hayabusa mini due to clutch slip and the tuner had had enough for one day, so my car is going on the dyno tomorrow morning.
Here is my local dyno in larnaca, very nice one it is too, power runs are an event for viewing
My friend is holding the record for the Dyno so far with 805bhp and 680lb/ft torque in his 997 turbo.
