Rear lights and reversing lights

Hi All,
My car, 2.5, got really damp over the winter even though it was garaged, condensation everywhere. Since then I've had a new alternator fitted and had to reseat the 80amp fuse (awaiting new holder to fit as we speak).
I've lost both rear lights and reversing lights. Under the rear clam I found that one of the P clamps had broken and the main loom had come to rest against the exhaust. I've now repaired all the wiring not just the two burnt through cables (spliced new wire with straight through crimp connectors), replaced the lamp holder on the driver's side, proved all lamps and cut back and reterminated all connections to said holder but I still have no rear lights or reversing lights. What's confusing me is that the indicators and fog lights work so the loom must be good. Headlights and side repeats also fine.
So is there a separate fuse for the rear lights and/or reverse lights and whereabouts can I find the infamous reverse switch connector or any other advice greatly appreciated.

The wire for the reverse light should be attached to the reverse light switch on top of the gearbox infront of the linkage, check its connected, my one was simply taped on and eventually fell off and stayed like that for a few months, will be fixing it more securely when the engine goes back in.

After much line testing recrimping, more replacement cable and two 7.5 Amp fuses I've managed to get the rear lights working but the reverse lights are possibly down to a broken switch. It looks like somebaody has already hard wired what was the plug with bullet connectors and the switch doesn't open fully when rverse is selected.
So next question, is the reverse switch a Ford part? I also need new lamp holders and the screws that hold the lights in....
Has anybody fitted extra panels at the back of the car on the outer edge of the box section of chassis. It would be next to where the clam shuts and should keep the rear end more water tight?

Try jumping the two wires that go into the reverse light switch together - if the reverse lights turn on, it's a bad switch. What I've seen on many Nobles over here in the States is that the wires to the reverse light switch do not use the correct connector to the switch - instead, they use two wrong-size push-on connectors. These are not weatherproof, and do not properly cover the socket on top of the switch. Water pools in the top of the switch, corroding the terminals until one or both of the terminals snap off. Best fix is to replace the switch and splice in the proper two-conductor connector...SimonJW said:
