Help: Leaking pipe ...?

Hi there,

After a run, I saw some leaking pipes in the engine bay last weekend - but i'm not 100% sure what was leaking?

In the picture attached the three siler pipes in middle of picture were leaking warm liquid.

Any idea's what the liquid (coolant???) and what is the pipe connecting?

Any thoughts let me know,

i had a leak and posted on here and was told to check the pipes going into the rear turbo and tighten up . I stuck my finger there and it was wet so i tightened up after replacing the rusty jubilee clip . It seems to have solved it although still get a tiny bit of wetness after a few weeks .

you might tighten them up for a while but pipes like this are only going one way.....


and then check the condition of the oil return pipes, which was quite scary when I did it..


One thing does lead to another but ultimately it's better to know you're on the safe side.

I found the rear turbo connections were more affected by heat then the front which was odd as a lot of concern is given to the enclosed location of the front turbo. I think the heat from the exhaust system seems to outweigh the space issues around the front,anybody any thoughts on this?

I had the same problem Rob with my rear turbo drain hose, scary when you think if it did leak you have oil leaking over a hot exhaust !

They're just straight lengths of hose, silicone would be better but use whatever you prefer. I think it's 9.5mm to the turbos. If you find that you have a few suspect hoses and decide to go the whole hog then the contact you need is Tim at ACT, he does a complete coolant kit for our cars.

I bought replacement pipes from Pirtek (the original supplier) but they are so hard they are a bh to get on to the connectors so went for silicone but getting lengths over 1m needs a bit of shopping around, most just do 1m. i agree rob, rear turbo pipes and oil return seemed to be most affected by heat.

While you're at it, check the oil feed lines to the turbos for heat damage. Be sure to push back any of that silicone heat sheathing so that you can see the oil line itself. The most likely place for damage is where the fitting that attaches to the turbo is attached to the oil line...
