Wen I was younger I had a rs turbo with a blitz adjustable boost thingy! Any recommendations for the m400 so I can crank it up when I try and race bikes smile

Yep........... dont bother without other mods or you will blow the engine even if you could get it to work...

Oh ok, I don't really want get in to lots of mods tho. Would I need to do anything just for a little remap? Or would u advise leaving it standard? Thanks smile

first get it remapped, then fit a switch to break the wires to the boost solenoid

you can now swap between low and high boost at the flick of a switch

depends how much power etc you are after ?
An intercooler and fuel pump wiring upgrade and a Yellowshed remap gives good results, upgrade your valve springs and injectors as well and you get one fast car...

There is a thread on here recently about what it takes to get to 450, might be worth a read....

If your talking about racing bikes through winding roads then no mods are necessary, you will destroy any bike with stock setup and some good driving, but you will still be a bit short of beating bikes on acceleration

You need to get up to 500 - 550bhp to beat bikes on acceleration, i'm talking about R1 type performance.

Is it the M400 you have? If so then not many mods are required to improve performance, pretty much what Steve (Daddysumo) said, you can unlesah the cars true potential for very little cost.

I think you will need far more horsepower than that, my old Atom3 300 (600hp per tonne) would get eaten by my mates R1. On a straight road! I think there 186hp and only 175kg! You would need a Capario T1 or the Atom 500

the issue is that people use dry weights when calculating BHP per ton... for example an R1 doesnt weigh under 190kgs wet and usually require a rider... so 280kgs is the 'real' weight.
On the flip side whilst they make 160bhp it looses loads less than a car so ends up with over 150bhp at the wheel.

Not surprised the Atom couldn't keep up though, they certainly weigh more than 500kgs wet so would never make the claimed 600bhp/ton... its closer to 400bhp/ton IMHO once you have a driver in the car.... before all get up in arms, I do love the atom and a friend of mine actually manufacturers them in the states, he sold one to Jay Leno smile

you wont be able to crank it up without mods... and from what I have been told you wont get much more from a remap on a std M400 as they were mapped pretty well to start with.

What you can do is fit a switch that allows you to run low boost... what you have now is a car with .3bar actuators but your car will go to .7bar because as std the ecu already has an electronic boost adjuster... if you switch off the boost adjuster as described above (solonoid on the inlet manifold) you will only get .3bar and thus low boost.

Wrong, my M400 beat my friends atom 300 twice down a quarter mile, I also pulled away from him on country roads and he was trying, my car was 470 horse at the time.
Also I was faster through 2nd and 3rd gear than my chum on his R6. Never tried an R1 but have one lined up for a play when my engine is finished. smile

Andygtt- fairly sure standard actuators are .5bar

I admit i'm not 100% sure on the M400... the Gt03 has .3bar... .5bar ones are fitted for getting over 450bhp

can anyone confirm if the M400 ones different to the Gt03R etc?

I am not saying the atom is the fastest car ever, but it is quick to 100. And an R1 comes past like I'm going backwards! That's why I don't think 500 ponies will do the job. smile

Beating modern 600cc bikes is 450hp territory I'd say, going by my car. The latest blade and r1's are too quick but not out of reach with extra mods.
The bikes may weigh 170kg dry but are more like 320+ kg when wet with fat biker onboard.

I once (with 340bhp) beat from the lights upto and part way through 3rd gear until having to break for roundabout a Nija. It must have been the baby one (600cc).

I have video evidence of a certain individule on here drag racing a tuned 600cc race bike and beating it smile

I'm sure in discussion in the past that the nobles when only slightly modded are good to take up to 700cc bikes in acceleration?

Last year I had a play with a bike for over 20 mins through the Hampshire back roads and he was a great rider and comitted himself to tight corners better than me as they had no room for a bit of slip before I could curb the alloys. It was fun as he would get past a car and wait for me before starting again. We then had a wave good buy before joining the motorway. Happy days. lol

I have been living in Cyprus too long, as a general rule cars in Cyprus never race bikes under 100mph, i have been brain washed into thinking this was a universal practice as these type of races are a regular occurance over here.
Just like bikes will never race cars around a windy road, you have no chance against a bike on acceleration up to 100mph, but over yes, with 500- 550bhp you may just find yourself keeping up or pulling away slightly on acceleration.

Bikes and cars is apples vs oranges, the power to weight means less at high speeds where the air gets thick and its more down to power and aerodynamics.
So it is accepted that for the two to race against each other then the criteria is high speed acceleration, any car that can keep up to a superbike gets respect.

Hmmm... M400 owner has car for nearly a week and gets bored of the power after "racing bikes". This can only end well for you and whoever you have in the passenger seat at the time.

Perhaps get a bike? Find something else about the absolutely EPIC car you've just bought to entertain you? Learn to go round corners maybe?

I agree with you there Chris. Most 1000cc super bikes are absolute missiles, having given up riding myself (wife insisting I'm too old frown. ) and I too had the greatest respect of a fast car, and now the other way round "respect to the bikers".

I have a 2007 r1 - I'm not bored of the power I just want more as I'm sure every1 on here does smile
I sold my drift 200sx to get this car so I think I can go round corners. Done the gumball and carbon black and got to drive amazing cars that feel quicker than the noble.... All I'm saying is I want to play with bikes.......don't hate so much.

I am also an ex biker, GSXR750 with a fwe performance modifications was the fastest i had, i still am in the habit of giving bikers the nod of respect even though i forget i'm in a car.

To clarify the other post about actuators, The M400 has 0.5 bar actuators as standard, all others models have 0.3bar actuators( which end up giving 0.1bar resistance after a few years)
