ride height: build manual contradiction?

Before getting a professional alignment, I wanted to adjust the ride height per the US build manual, which says:

"Ride Height M400 Only: (Camber can be change to some degree by varying spring settings)
• Set springs from machined edge at the top of the threads to top of spanner nut. Front 1.50”
• Set springs from the machined edge at the top of the threads to top of spanner nut. Rear 1”
• Front height from chassis to ground at wheel centerline 5”
• Rear height from chassis to ground at wheel centerline 5 ½”"

I set my front springs at 1.5" per the manual (assuming I interpreted the manual correctly!), but my ride height measures 5 7/16" from the bottom of the frame to the ground at the wheel centerline.



So, which is it? Set the spring at 1.5"? Or set the ride height at 5.0" Can't have both!

The spring setting is more of a guideline, the acurate setting is to measure from ground to chassis on a flat level surface.
When i set my springs same on back, one side will be slghtly higher than the other, this can also vary from car to car and from spring to spring.
Make sure to loosen wishbone bolts before adjusting ride height or bushes will stop car from settling to its correct height and will produce false results.

Not only the size but the make of your tyres could affect ride height Jeff. Are yours the same as quoted in that same manual?
