Snoopers/road angels... what do we think???

hi all,
as the title suggests. what do people think about the plethora of radar detection systems out there?
I had one of the original road angels years ago but i assume things have moved on since then!
a friend said the snooper linked below is considered the best of the latest offerings...

Remember it's 20/30/40/50/60/70 for a reason, or is that six reasons? Ive got a road angel and to be honest I just find it a pain cos I have to go in and out of calls and don't like leaving it in the car on display in certain areas, so I end up just not bothering putting it in. Waste of money really. I remember aldi had some talax camera detectors for about £60 and do mostly the same as mine without the need to pay any subscription fees.
Friend of mine has put in a parking sensor, that works as a parking sensor but also has the ability to jam radar. Is the risk of being caught with what you can claim you thought to be a legitimate parking sensor,(installed by a preious owner maybe) worse than being caught doing lots of mph???

Yep - as far as I was aware, you could be charged with perverting the course of justice for using a jammer, so not recommended, unless you wanted to run the risk of being locked up.I also heard (not sure on how true it is) that if you are targetted with a radar gun and it generates an error (which it would if you used a jammer), then a "flag" is put against a record of your license plate in a database. If on a subsequent occasion the same thing happens, 2 flags against your license plate would attract a visit to your home and a very close inspection of the car by the BiB. On finding a jammer installed, you would be in pretty serious trouble.
So not worth it in my opinion.

I have a Snooper and I'm pretty sure it's saved my licence more than a few times...bloody annoying when it gets triggered by automatic doors though.
One of t's best uses is telling you when cameras are switched off...the cameras on gantries like the M25 at Heathrow airport for example...everyone else slows down and you don't

glad you like the snooper Jenx cause ive just bought one. i can never be bothered to think about these things too much so just read a couple of reviews earlier and bought it. see how i get on! good advice for Europe too.

I have a road angel which has laid in the garage for the last year as it doesnt pick up lasers which are the main risk rather than fixed cameras which are picked up with my sat nav anyway. i couldnt be bothered with the monthly fee and regular updates/downloads, better to keep your eyes open and take your foot off the gas where there are camera signs !!
Beware in France as Les Flick get the right hump if you have a camera detector. Even told me to turn off my garmin sat nav as they noticed it had a camera detector on when they were questioning me at a toll (it was bleeping when i was asked to pull over and i wasnt even speeding !). Apparently its a big fine for having any kind of camera detector in France, dont know about the rest of Europe.

Thanks for the info, not something worth looking at. I have a snooper syrius sat-nav and it is hopeless. Hope the detector is better.wessexrfc said:
