I bought the plate about 9 months ago. The car apparently caught fire on the road I believe.
The insurance company were holding out on the guy and not playing ball by making him silly offers, I bought the plate whilst he was still waiting for the payout.
Spotted it a couple of days ago..... Race car in the making I reckon :-)

someone asked me if i wanted to make a racecar out of it last week, I reckon it wouldn't be cost effective to try and put it back on the road.

As a rebuild it seems like a lot of work, wiring looms, all new piping , engine etc.. everything really
It also looks like it was burning for quite a while and the thin walled steel can twist and buckle, the tub also needs some work and they are not available to buy anymore but it appears to be repairable, a bit risky, it is only worth being broken for parts imo.

Thats on there for one reason only, for someone to buy it and then nick one of ours and ring the paperwork + ID over, RING DINGER! Cars in that state should be for either parts only (CAT b) or straight to the crusher. Gives theiths a good reason to go out on the nick! which in turn ups our insurance premiums because cars are being nicked with intention of being rung. These type of cars in this type of 'accident' are only avaliable to buy because of the insurance companies in the first place! Viscous circle. All just to make money and fook the economy.

How would that work? If its a cat B its vin/chassis number and reg number will never be allowed on the road again so cant be transferred to a stolen car etc. Gaz

ETA just noticed it doesnt say what category write-off it is but i would hope its not C/D as the structure of the steel work can be severely weakend by the intense heat and could be a danger to re-use, very naughty.

I can't see any viability in buying this car other than some front end spares, surely the chassis at the rear is twisted / weakened & at currently 5K bid never worth it.

Well, it sold for £5600 so I guess it's going to be used as a track car rather than broken for parts although I can't see there's much left? If it's someone on here that's bought it as a project then it will be interesting to see the progress. Shame as I had my eye on the front clam.
