You’ve posted in the wrong sub forum, but this guide gives lots of detail

https://ev-inventory.com/guide/tesla-model-3-buyer...

The simple answer though is the earliest US built ones with the silver window trim don’t have heat pumps and aren’t well built

The ones after that are better, although some say the battery is prone to failure on the Long range

Then you have changes in 2022 which improved things again, like Rzyen screen, but then they dropped parking sensors. You also stand a chance of some Tesla warranty.unless you know what you’re looking at I’d start here.

And all will need suspension work at some point

A later standard range with LFP battery is nearly always a better buy than an earlier Long range for the same money as you’ll get more updates and other changes and possibly get one with some warranty

Perhaps corroded brakes and tired suspension.

Yeah, budget for some suspension work. The standard 3 with the LFP battery drives really nice

So i ignored the sensible advice and bought a long range performance.
So far the worst thing about it is its going to be my mrs car, and driving it has ruined diesel cars for me now and I am going to have to go back to mine.

I’d say you did the sensible thing - congrats - it’s a fantastic car!

When did they start including heat pumps and when did they bring in the LFP batteries?

Bit of a minefield this!

The link above gives you the run through of what and when. but even then some cars are oddities and registered early/late can throw things.

heat pump was 21+, easiest tell is black instead of chrome window surrounds and wooden dashboard. LFP was standard range RWD only i think?

Ryzen CPU was 22+ but exact car varies as some late 21 cars have it and some early 22 still had intel. I would definetly try stretch to ryzen CPU cars. Its shown on the service menu if its intel atom or amd ryzen. There has already been a few updates that intel cars havent got. Grok etc
