No idea when this happened, got in the GRY yesterday and noticed a 9 inch crack bottom left corner, upon inspection looks like a stone chip.

So I need a new screen, I've got the usual insurance cover so I'd expect autoglass etc but we all know the horror stories.

Anyone replaced the screen before, I'm Staffs based so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Check the operation of the 'auto wipe' after it's been done.
I believe mine had a replacement screen (before my ownership) and I noticed the auto wipe not working, I checked and repositioned the gel sticker/pad under the cover and it's all good now.

I think this is a common sensor setup and not GR Yaris specific, so a good installer should know about the gel pad.

Was it a Toyota replacement (like for like) or a standard autoglass fitment, if the later any issues with fitment, noise etc?

If you get it done by Toyota it will be a bit pricey compared to the insurance, although ultimately it will probably be a similar contractor that does the work. They also need to align TSS, and HUD if it has one.

I don't have any details of who fitted it. But it is a Toyota branded windscreen.

I think GR is different from normal Yaris so I doubt Autoglass etc have pattern ones due to limited number of cars in UK. I thought I read early on owners were having issues with glass cracking, so I guess it is thinner than normal Yaris model. Obviously suspension and shell is much stiffer so less flex. Is that good or bad for stressing windscreen?!?

Not noticed excessive notice from windscreen. But non windscreen related, I did have excess noise around where drivers wing mirror attaches to door, but got that fixed.

OEM windscreens are short in supply but no great demand. What that means is that whenever I've ordered one there always appears to 'only' be a couple in Toyota [UK] stock.

It's a mobile job which can be done outside your home or place of work.

I was hoping you'd reply - thanks!

Are there pattern windscreens or only OEM due to volume?

I can see some aftermarket stock but the difference in price isn't worth taking the difference in quality. IME the aftermarket 'screens can cause issues with functionality of the devices attached to it. The OEM products present none.

Email me your reg and I'll check availability.
