GR Yaris, anyone not felt the love?
Discussion
When I first picked up mine new last July I didn’t feel the love and thought I bought the wrong car!
The problem was the type of engine I was use too, so I really had to learn the car, now 4k in I love it. I use mine as a daily which it does perfectly well, but when you want to get on it it delivers.
0-60 in circa 5 seconds it’s no slouch so to answer your question 260-280hp is plenty although it can be improved through a decent filter/inlet and a remap.

I went to purchase one when they first came out.
Had one of those nice test drives where the salesman gives you the keys and says to come back when you’re ready.
I think they’re great and love what Toyota have done in building it.
I did not buy one because:

I did not buy one because:
- The road noise
- That screen coming out of the dash
- The hazards coming on under hard breaking
- Annoying modern ‘safety’ systems

I got one of the first one's.
Rusty bits on a new car.
Front bumper trims fit was awful.
Rejected.
Hmm, unrecorded pre-delivery bump hastily fixed by the dealer would be my suspicion there.Rusty bits on a new car.

Rejected.
But I've seen a few since that were similar to varying degrees.
Admit I'm an OCD perfectionist.
I gave the dealer the oppurtunity to sort the bumper, got a flat no.
I looked at a used one recently.
Very similar to the above photos.

I love mine. It sits alongside an Elise Cup, RX8 and Alpina B5, amongst other things, so it's not for a lack of experience with decent metal.
Mine was one of the first deliveries. I've had the brakes smoking on track without a hint of fade. The engine pulls hard across every RPM and they're very adjustable with the throttle.
I honestly don't get the people who don't like them or think they're dull to drive.

Yes they really grip and there's no unexpected dramas in the twisty stuff, but is 260 bhp enough for meaningful acceleration? Sure they can be mapped, but not if extending the warranty every year is in your plans.
Always an adventure even in the most mundane moments. What on earth do you mean by 'meaningful acceleration'? It's a small fast car, not a McLaren.
But to be nice about it, they aren't low maintenance and need regular servicing and attention to keep them in good nick.
Mapping is for mugs in my view only, if you want it to last.
I'm feeling the love.

I've had mine less than 2 months, haven't driven it much due to crap weather. Didn't say it's dull to drive, just doesn't exactly throw me back in the seat. Though yesterday a large truck was stuck to my rear bumper for a mile in a 30 limit, as the limit changed to 60 I accelerated moderately. When I checked the rear view, there was a surprisingly large gap.Mine was one of the first deliveries. I've had the brakes smoking on track without a hint of fade. Please don't get me wrong, I loved the car in the 118 miles I drove it.I said to my daughter "this is a very good car" even before I'd given it any throttle (new car run in)
The first night home it went into my carpeted garage, and as you do, I starred at it, sat in it, warm feeling I'd bought an amazing car to keep for the rest of my driving days.
Then I looked closer, and decided there's no way I could live with those issues, the front bumper was a mess, signs of corrosion on a new car.
Not what I expected from a new Toyota.

That snacks of something not being right. Like others have said, maybe accident damage prior to delivery. I'd certainly have sent it back, too.Not what I expected from a new Toyota.
Mines one of the originals and lived outside for a couple of years but still looks brand new underneath, so thankfully your experience isn't the norm.

You were surprised you gapped a truck?RSstuff said:

You can get a Toyota supplied remap now in the UK yeah?https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/toyota-uk-remap.856...

It’s set up for B roads and twisties, if you want meaningful acceleration then try a 296 Ferrari or something electric.I’ve just picked up a newer one to keep my 718 Spyder company as something to use when the weather is bad.
To the poster with the badly fitted bumper trims below, this is a Toyota, they don’t come from the factory like that - it’s clearly been bumped.
