anyone successfully put the reverse camera or the updated head unit with carplay / android auto into the first model?

alternatively, an aftermarket reverse camera hooked into the old headunit which surely has a video input pin and switch to video input signal..

or just ordered a replacement head unit module and plug and play it (with telematics) to get phone integration?

I have a PE and was looking into the reversing camera about a year ago, and going through all the Alpine forums including the French forum, it looks like its extremely difficult to retrofit with custom wire harnesses being required etc and no one has done it successfully and not really worth the effort.
I know someone put a camera fitted to where the window above the slam panel inside the car (inbetween the 2 seats) but I guess thats not what you are after

I guess putting the factory setup for reverse camera in might be a pain but it really cannot be too hard to run a third party license plate mounted camera to the front of the car and hooked up to the Bosch head unit..

And sooner or later someone has to try the newer head unit in an original car.. same dimensions same screen same everything just a software patch for CarPlay..

Really hoping this happens at some point, but I have a feeling the software is not within the head unit. I've seen someone on the French forums use a 2016 Kadjar screen, and it works without modification.

Also the SD card slot has been removed on the facelift, which to me suggests new harnesses etc. So I have serious doubts.

From FAR forums, top is old, bottom is new. A connector is different, so even if the screen held software, it wouldn't be quite so simple...

Yesterday I did a quick journey without the screen (as I'm testing a phone mount), audio etc worked fine, confirming to me it's just a display. Shame the new screen won't be backwards compatible.
