‘22 model year vs earlier cars?

Hi All
Am looking at dipping a toe into the used A110 market.
I understand thy may the ‘22 onward cars come with apple car play but are also more sensitive to re-mapping.
Maybe it subjective but otherwise, any particular pros and cons to think about?
Am leaning towards an S but not 100pc fixed on model yet.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

I have a ‘22 250bhp A110 and understand the only real improvement over pre ‘22 cars to be Apple CarPlay.
I think that’s worth having as a daily driver as the in car audio is the only aspect of the pre ‘22 car routinely criticised (justly in my view) but may not worry you if you’re buying it as a weekend or track car.

Either way, it’s a fantastic car .

The change came later in 22 -my car was dealer stock, registered 1 Sept 22 and is pre CarPlay. So check the spec carefully -a 22/72 plate is no guarantee of having the upgraded system.

I’ve just been through this. For me car play did actually put me off buying a couple of cars, having come from a couple of Evoras, neither with CarPlay it was always an annoyance in not being able to programme “fun routes” when in unfamiliar areas.

I could live with using a phone mount, but eventually I ended up buying a stock new car as a consequence, especially given that the price difference between a new car and a 2021/2022 is the square root of naff all.

Look for the A110 or A110GT badging on the rear to determine the new model. I understood that there were a few other minor tweaks, but nothing of significance.

The Légende (GT) is technically a MY21 car, just as the 252bhp Pure and the 292bhp S. I guess these all come without CarPlay, which was a dealbreaker for me back then, as I planned to use the car mainly for road trips and wanted to be able to choose my own satnav software.

Other than that, I believe that the main differences between MY21 and MY22 are a few other changes in the ICE (telemetrics have become less useful) and the 292bhp engine being tweaked to 300bhp. Trim levels became the A110, A110 GT and A110 S.

The first MY22 cars in my country were delivered in March '22.

Alpine introduced the model year 2022 A110 in November 2021. I don't know when the first MY2022 cars were built but my base model MY2022 was built on 4th March 2022 and delivered in April 2022.

On the base model the only change was the updated multimedia system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. The S version had slightly more changes including power upgrade from 292 hp to 300 hp. The A110 GT was a new version for 2022 but it was very similar to 2021 Legende GT version.

One way I have noticed on how to spot a facelift/CarPlay model, is that they have the right most toggle switch under the satnav screen as a screen off button. On pre facelift cars that switch is a blank

If anyone wants a non CarPlay A110, but also wants the best phone mount (in my biased opinion), drop me a message and I'll send one to you via international air, for postage + a price (tbd).
I'll also include the air diffuser, no more cold knees.
Price will go up if I make a store for it.

If only that button turned the screen off, that would be really useful. What it actually does is bring up a stupid little menu, with 4 options, crammed together right in the middle of the screen (it would have been too helpful to have one option in each corner). You have to take your eyes off the road to aim a finger at the "screen off" option. It's such a small area of screen you're aiming for, the chances are, you'll select the option above or below the one that you were aiming for. If you manage to select the "screen off" patch of screen, it doesn't turn the screen off, it just takes nearly all the graphics away, so the screen is still glowing a little (which is annoying) & you can't get rid of the clock at all - it's still there glowing bright white in the corner & the best way to get rid of it is to stick some electrician's tape over it.
